“Lights, camera, action!”
“Lights, camera, action!” is the theme for all the lessons this term for Treloar’s primary students. The topic will be a combination of learning about and exploring the power of drama as a creative way to make a statement and express oneself.
All the primary classes will be getting to know the technical skills in a drama production, scriptwriting and narrative development!
Studying ecosystems
KS3 students experienced a fantastic introduction to their topic ‘Eco’ through a carousel of activities that represent the different ecosystems they will encounter this term.
For the station representing the Tundra, students were challenged to use a range of tools to free small world people who had been frozen in ice. The students love a challenge and persisted until the people were free! They also had the chance to get creative and use coloured ice cubes to paint a picture with.
At the water station, the students then explored the individual elements of the water cycle, with them enjoying a RAP that they danced and sang along to. A firm favourite was the water spray which represented precipitation aka the rain!
At the desert station, everyone listened to some desert-themed music whilst using a range of coloured sand and images to create their own piece of desert sand art.
At the grassland station, students participated in rolling a die to find out how many strips of grass could be removed before revealing a hidden animal. The students enjoyed working in pairs to see if a friend or staff member could guess which grass they had explored whilst being blindfolded. After exploring a range of stimuli, students were able to make marks using a variety of different grasses.
KS4 students are getting curious!
KS4 had a successful topic launch ‘Curiosity’ at the beginning of term. There were plenty of activities to be curious about including switch activated items, mixing colours through spin art painting, science experiments to explore diffusion and a story created using Artificial Intelligence and an exercise to create symmetrical patterns using colours on a provided black and white template.
KS4 have continued their curiosity into the outdoor areas of the school looking for ways they can improve the environment, with the goal of setting up an Eco Council.
