AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. It is anything that adds to, or is an alternative to, verbal communication. For example; communication books, communication devices and Makaton signing.
Treloar’s celebrated AAC Awareness Month last week (21-25 October). The Speech Language (SLT) Team shared some interesting facts and information about AAC every day that week.
The Team also ran a poster competition. Students were invited to create a poster with the title ‘How we communicate…’ or ‘What is inclusive communication?’ All the posters were displayed in The Jowett Centre on Thursday 24 October. The winning poster, announced on Friday 25, was put in a golden frame!
Here at Treloar's, we love celebrating the amazing and different ways we all communicate!
