Our partnership with Southampton Airport

Cameron and Ben, students at Treloar College joined the Southampton Airport team in October as part of our Supported Internship Programme.

Treloar’s Supported Internship programme is a one-year programme aimed at students whose intended destination after Treloar’s is to find employment, self-employment or voluntary work, part-time or full-time.

Cameron and Ben's task will be to work on passenger experience throughout the next academic year.

Gemma Forman, one of Airport Duty Managers at the airport, welcomed the students and took them through their induction process: during day 1 they met Managing Director Gavin and the Accessibility Team; the students had their safety inductions such as assembly point training and evacuation response as well as meeting staff and learning arrival processes.

Cam and Ben came back bursting with enthusiasm for their second day where they got to test access to the train station and airport car park along with meeting members of staff.

Although their induction process has only just begun, both Cam and Ben have already found ways to improve areas of the airport for staff and passenger experience. Southampton Airport is working towards ‘Creating Accessible Communities’ in partnership with Treloar School and College.
