College art exhibition
The art curriculum at Treloar’s offers students the opportunity to communicate, share and express their individual creativity, independence, resilience, and self-awareness whilst providing them with the fundamental skills, techniques and knowledge needed to create both unique and collaborative pieces of art or craft.
Every year, during the summer term, college students put out an exhibition that can be admired by all staff, students and visitors. This year, the exhibition was divided into 3 themes:
- From my perspective
- Colour, texture and weave
- Colour
From my perspective
This was a competition organised by Alton Arts Festival. Students were asked to take black and white pictures for the theme of ‘From my perspective’. Students from all 3 college pathways took part in the competition with amazing results: 8 students got through to the final and hope to have their work displayed soon on large banners around Alton for the festival.
Colour, texture and weave
This was the theme for the Sensory and Interactive students this term. All students painted their own fabrics, had a go at sewing and feeling the vibrations of the machine pedal. Additionally, they also had a go at finger knitting and enjoyed the smells of the perfumed soap and textures when wet felting. Moreover, they created their own beads using various textured clays and enjoyed dipping them into paint.
Colour
This term, college students have been looking at colour theory – creating their own colour wheel and learning about colour tints, tones and shades. The work below is the celebration of their skills and knowledge. They chose to paint things they have interest in.
