Henley Fort visit

School

During KS4 Leavers Activity Week in May, 8 students went on a trip to Henley Fort Outdoor Activity Centre in Guildford to celebrate completing KS4 stage before moving on to Sixth Form.

Staff and students made a campfire where they cooked bread and made tea and shot arrows out on the archery field. They also had the opportunity to travel on Guildford canal on a specially adapted canal boat called Angel Blue. The group travelled along the canal with student taking turns to steer the boat and operate locks along the way.

WW2 Experience
Students were provided with authentic uniforms and had the chance to take on the role of both a Surrey Home Guard volunteer and an Air Raid Warden.

Our students experienced what it might have been like during an air raid in an authentic Anderson shelter and learnt about gas masks, blackout and how to fight fires with fire-fighting equipment of the day.

To finish off the 3 days of activities, staff and students gathered in Treloar’s Outdoor Learning Area and had takeaway pizza for supper. Everybody sat around the fire pit, singing and toasting marshmallows.
